Police to Enforce Tinted Glass Permit From August 12

The Nigeria Police Force will begin full enforcement of the vehicle tinted glass permit starting Monday, August 12, 2025.

This directive affects all vehicles with tinted windows, whether factory-fitted or aftermarket. Vehicle owners without a valid tinted glass permit risk arrest, fines, or impoundment, the police warned in a statement on Sunday.

The Force said the enforcement is part of efforts to improve public safety and ensure that vehicles on Nigerian roads are properly documented.

“All motorists using tinted windows must ensure they obtain a valid permit before the deadline,” the statement read. “Enforcement will be carried out by officers across the country through patrols and routine checks.”

Applications for the permit can be made online at: https://npf.gov.ng/tinted/.

The police added that the regulation has always been in place, but enforcement had been on hold due to administrative reasons. That hold is now lifted, and violators will face the full weight of the law.

Motorists are advised to keep all vehicle documents handy and comply with the new directive to avoid penalties.
