The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, received a high-powered delegation from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Warri Area Command, on a courtesy and appreciation visit to his office in Warri.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Area Commander, Mrs. Eleanor Edevwie, accompanied by other senior officers of the Command.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Edevwie disclosed that the team was at the office of the DSIRS boss to formally appreciate and recognize Hon. Ighrakpata as a standing partner and dependable ally of the NDLEA for his invaluable support, commitment and contributions to the successful execution of the Agency’s recent programmes.

She specifically commended Hon. Ighrakpata for his pivotal role, as well as his financial and moral support, towards the successful commemoration of the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, themed, “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention,” which was marked across Delta State through sensitization campaigns in schools, markets and communities.

According to the Deputy Area Commander, Hon. Ighrakpata has, over the years, demonstrated uncommon passion for youth development, community service and nation-building, hence the decision of the Command to honour him.

In recognition of his immense contributions to the fight against drug abuse and drug trafficking, as well as his sustained commitment to the welfare of society, the NDLEA Warri Area Command presented a Platinum Award of Partnership Appreciation to Hon. Ighrakpata, describing him as a “True Partner in the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).”

Responding, Hon. Ighrakpata expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the Warri Area Command for finding him worthy of the prestigious honour. He described the award as a call to do more.

He assured the Agency of his continued support, collaboration and partnership, pledging to deploy his office and personal influence to support the NDLEA’s advocacy, sensitization and rehabilitation programmes across Delta State.

Hon. Ighrakpata also used the opportunity to charge the youths of Delta State to shun illicit drugs, cultism and all forms of substance abuse, stressing that drug abuse remains a major threat to public health, productivity and security.

“Taking illicit drugs is an abuse of the body system. It destroys the brain, destroys lives, breaks families and truncates the future of our youths. No society can develop with a drug-dependent youth population,” Ighrakpata warned.

“I urge our youths across Delta State to be law-abiding, disciplined and focused. Channel your energy into education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and activities that will be beneficial to your families, your future and Delta State. The MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, needs a drug-free and productive youth population to succeed,” he added.
